Converting a 1240 PSAT to ACT Score?

Hi! I scored a 1240 on my PSAT and I want to try taking the ACT. Does anyone know how to convert my PSAT score to an equivalent ACT score, or if there's any kind of conversion chart available? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! While there isn't a direct conversion chart between PSAT and ACT scores, you can use a two-step process to get a rough estimate of your equivalent ACT score.

First, convert your PSAT score to an estimated SAT score. For example, a 1240 on the PSAT is roughly equivalent to a 1340 on the SAT. Please note that this is an approximation, as the conversion isn't 1-to-1 and might also vary across individual sections.

Once you have a rough SAT score, you can use the concordance table published by the College Board and ACT to convert your estimated SAT score into an ACT score. According to this concordance table, a 1340 SAT score would be roughly equivalent to around a 29 on the ACT.

Keep in mind that this conversion is only an approximation, and there might be some variation depending on your performance in each subsection. The best way to gauge your ACT performance is to take a few official practice tests. This will give you a more accurate gauge of your ACT score, as well as provide you with valuable experience and familiarity with the test format, timing, and types of questions you'll encounter.

Good luck with your test preparation! Remember, practice tests and reviewing your results are the keys to improving your scores.
