Hi y'all! So I'm seriously thinking about applying to UT Austin Early Decision. Does anyone have an idea of what their ED acceptance rate is? Also, is ED binding or not? Thanks in advance!
Hello! UT Austin offers Early Action (EA), not Early Decision (ED). Early Action is non-binding, which means that you're not obligated to attend if accepted. If you apply Early Action to UT Austin and get accepted, you'll have until May 1st to make your final decision, just like students who apply Regular Decision.
As for the acceptance rate, it's a bit challenging to pinpoint a specific number, as UT Austin doesn't publish their acceptance rates broken down by EA and Regular Decision. However, in general, applying early can provide a slight boost to your chances, as it demonstrates your interest in the school, and colleges appreciate this commitment.
That being said, UT Austin's overall acceptance rate is around 29-31%, though it can fluctuate each year. It's a competitive school, so to improve your chances, make sure you have a strong application that includes solid grades, a rigorous course load, impressive extracurriculars, and well-crafted essays.
Good luck with your application! If you have any questions about the admissions process or strategies to improve your chances, feel free to ask.
