High ACT score - what's that considered?

Hey guys! I just took the ACT and I'm curious about what score is generally considered high. I know it's subjective, but any insight about what might be a solid score for top colleges or even an average one to give me a sense of perspective? Thanks!

Hello! A high ACT score is indeed somewhat subjective, but I can provide you with a general idea of what's considered competitive for top colleges. The maximum possible score on the ACT is a 36. Typically, a score of 30 or above is seen as quite strong and competitive for most colleges.

For top-tier colleges and universities, like the Ivy League or other highly selective schools, a score of 33 or above is generally considered more competitive. A score above 34 or 35 can be considered exceptional and may enhance your application at elite institutions. Of course, these are just guidelines, and individual college admission requirements may vary.

Keep in mind that while a high ACT score is essential, it's not the only factor considered in the admissions process. Your academic performance, extracurricular activities, essays, and other aspects of your application are also crucial. However, a high ACT score can significantly boost your chances of getting admitted to the college of your choice.

Remember, there's no universally agreed-upon "high" ACT score, but having a sense of the competitive range for the schools you're interested in will help you better contextualize your own performance. Good luck with your college applications!
