UC San Diego CS acceptance rate?

I'm considering majoring in computer science and UC San Diego is one of my top choices. Does anyone know how competitive the CS program is there? Like, what is the acceptance rate for that specific major?

UC San Diego's Computer Science program is quite competitive and highly regarded. While the acceptance rate for the entire university usually hovers around 24-34%, the Computer Science major is likely more selective.

This higher level of competitiveness is a reflection of the excellent program offered by UCSD's Jacobs School of Engineering, which has a strong reputation for its cutting-edge research and industry connections. To increase your chances of admission, ensure that your grades, test scores (if applicable), and extracurricular activities are well-aligned with the strong profiles of accepted students.

It's important to know that UC San Diego has a capped major system, meaning that if you're not admitted directly to the Computer Science program, it can be challenging to switch into it later. As a result, it's crucial to make a strong case for your interest and aptitude in Computer Science in your application.

Keep in mind that UC admissions are holistic, so your essays, extracurriculars, and overall profile will play an essential role in the decision process. Make the most of your application to showcase your passion for and commitment to computer science, and be sure to highlight any related projects or experiences that demonstrate your abilities in the field.
