UNC and demonstrated interest -- do they track it?

Hey there! I'm really into UNC, but I'm not sure what to do to up my chances. Do they track demonstrated interest? Should I sign up for virtual events to make sure they know I really wanna go there? Thanks!

UNC Chapel Hill does not consider demonstrated interest in their admissions process, so attending virtual events or contacting the admissions office directly will not directly improve your chances of being admitted. Instead, focus on strengthening your application by showcasing your academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and motivation through your grades, test scores (if applicable), activities list, and essays.

It is worth noting that participating in virtual events can have indirect benefits for your application to UNC. You can use these events to learn more about the school, its programs, campus culture, and resources, which can help you write compelling and tailored essays about why you want to attend UNC. It's essential to demonstrate a deep understanding of the university and why it's the right fit for you through your writing, and engaging with the school can help you do so, whether through virtual events or conversations with current students, alumni, or faculty.

To summarize, while demonstrating your interest in UNC will not directly impact your chances of admission, it can help you polish the elements of your application that admissions officers do care about, like your essays. Good luck with your application to UNC!
