SAT to ACT Conversion?

Hey guys, I got a 1470 on my SAT and I was wondering how that translates to an ACT score. Are there any reliable conversion charts or tools out there that I can use?

Hi there! There are definitely reliable conversion charts and tools available to help you convert your SAT score to an ACT score.

The best conversion tool would be the official concordance table released by the College Board (maker of the SAT) and ACT, Inc. (maker of the ACT). This table will give you the most accurate conversion, as it's based on extensive data from both testing organizations. Based on the latest concordance table, your 1470 SAT score is equivalent to approximately a 32-33 on the ACT.

Keep in mind that while these conversions are reliable, they're not definitive because the tests are structured differently. The SAT focuses slightly more on reasoning and problem-solving, while the ACT covers a broader range of content knowledge, and includes a dedicated science section. Additionally, just about every college and scholarship accepts both the SAT and ACT, and doesn’t have a preference for either test, so you don’t really need to worry about converting your score.

Nonetheless, it's good to have an understanding of how your SAT score compares with an ACT score for your own information or in case a conversion is necessary for some reason, or you’re considering taking the ACT to test it out and want to know roughly what your baseline would be. Good luck with your college applications!
