VA Tech Engineering Acceptance Rate?

Hello everyone! I'm really interested in applying to Virginia Tech's Engineering program. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for the Engineering school? Is it more competitive than the general acceptance rate? Thanks in advance for any information!

Hello! Virginia Tech's College of Engineering is indeed competitive and well-regarded. This, although Virginia Tech doesn’t officially publish acceptance rates for specific majors, it’s fair to assume the rate for engineering is lower than the university’s overall rate of around 55-60%.

Given the competitive nature of the program, it's essential to bolster your application with strong grades, especially in science and math courses, and to showcase your passion for engineering through your extracurricular activities and essays. Demonstrating your commitment to engineering and highlighting any hands-on experience (such as internships, research, personal projects, or participation in engineering-related clubs) can make a significant difference in your application.

To maximize your chances, use the time you have before applying to earn high grades, take on leadership roles in relevant clubs, or explore your engineering interests in creative ways.

Best of luck with your application to Virginia Tech's Engineering program!
