University of Minnesota out-of-state acceptance rate?

Hey everyone! I'm an out-of-state student considering applying to the University of Minnesota. Does anyone know if their out-of-state acceptance rate is different from their overall acceptance rate? Is it more competitive for out-of-state students?

Hi there! The University of Minnesota (UMN) doesn't publish a separate out-of-state acceptance rate, but it's worth noting that being an out-of-state applicant does not necessarily put you at a significant disadvantage. While the overall acceptance rate at UMN is around 73-75%, out-of-state students typically make up about 30-40% of the undergraduate population.

State-funded universities like UMN often prioritize in-state students to some extent, but they also value diversity and look for a mix of students from different regions of the country and the world. So, while there might be some level of increased competition for out-of-state applicants, it shouldn't be a major deterrent if you're interested in applying to UMN.

As with any college application, focus on presenting a strong application, showcasing your achievements, and demonstrating how you can contribute to the UMN campus community. Good luck with your application!
