What does the UCSB freshman profile look like?

Hello everyone! I'm applying to UCSB and I'm curious about the type of students they accept. Does anyone know the average test scores, GPA, or other stats of their freshman class? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hello! It's essential to familiarize yourself with the typical freshman profile of a school you're applying to, so I'm happy to provide you with some data for UCSB.

For the freshman class admitted to UCSB in Fall 2023, the middle 50% range of high school GPAs was 4.13-4.29 (weighted). In terms of test scores, please note that UC schools are now test-blind and no longer consider test scores in their admissions process. However, looking at Fall 2019 data—when test scores were still considered—SAT scores ranged around 630-730 for Evidence Based Reading & Writing and 650-790 for Math, and ACT scores ranged from 26-31.

Bear in mind that UCSB, like all UC schools, also values other aspects of an applicant's profile beyond just the numbers. Factors such as extracurricular activities, leadership experience, personal insight essays, and the individual qualities showcased play a role in the decision-making process. It's crucial to demonstrate your passion and dedication to your interests, as well as how you'll be a great fit for their campus community.

UCSB is a prestigious school, so it's important to have a strong application to be competitive. Good luck with your application, and if you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
