What's the deal with Georgia Tech EA2?

Hey everyone, I've been doing my college research and I came across this term 'EA2' for Georgia Tech. Can someone please explain what it is and how it's different from regular EA? Thanks!

Hello! Georgia Tech offers two Early Action (EA) application rounds: EA1 and EA2. EA2 stands for Early Action 2 and is is Georgia Tech's Early Action option for out-of-state students only.

Here are the main differences between EA1 and EA2:

1. Deadlines: The EA1 deadline is typically in mid-October, while the EA2 deadline falls around November 1st. The admissions decisions for EA1 are usually released in mid-December, and for EA2, they're released in Late January.

2. Competition: EA2 tends to be more competitive that ED1 due to the larger applicant pool.

3. Out-of-state Students: Out-of-state students are eligible to apply only in the EA2 round.

4. Priority consideration for scholarships: Students applying through EA1 may receive priority consideration for certain scholarships and special programs compared to those applying in EA2 or Regular Decision.
