What's a good SAT score for the class of 2024?

Hi everyone, I'm a junior and I need some guidance. What do you guys think would be a good SAT score for someone graduating in 2024? How competitive should my score be to get into top colleges?

A good SAT score depends on the colleges you are aiming for, as different institutions have different expectations. However, I can give you some general guidelines.

For top colleges, aiming for a 1500 or higher is generally a solid benchmark, especially considering the competitiveness of these institutions. Top-tier schools like the Ivy League, Stanford, MIT, and other highly selective colleges often have average SAT scores around the 1450-1570 range. Of course, other factors like your GPA, extracurriculars, and essays will play a crucial role in the admissions process as well.

For more average colleges and universities, a score of around 1200-1300 should be sufficient, but again, it can depend on the specific school and its applicant pool.

Keep in mind that many schools have adopted test-optional or test-blind policies, so it's important to research each university's admissions guidelines to understand how much weight they put on SAT scores.

Remember, your SAT score is just one aspect of your application. While a higher score can undoubtedly improve your chances, it's essential to focus on maintaining a strong GPA, engaging in impressive extracurricular activities, and crafting compelling essays. Balance all these factors, and you'll be in a good position for college admissions, regardless of your SAT score.
