Cal Poly out-of-state acceptance rate?

Hey guys! I'm an out-of-state student interested in applying to Cal Poly. Does anyone know if there's a significant difference between in-state and out-of-state acceptance rates? I'm trying to gauge if it's worth applying. Thanks!

Hey there! While Cal Poly is a public university and does prioritize California residents, it still welcomes out-of-state applicants. The exact numbers for in-state vs. out-of-state acceptance rates can change yearly, but it's generally true that out-of-state applicants face slightly lower acceptance rates compared to in-state students.

However, this shouldn't discourage you from applying if you think Cal Poly is a good fit for you. The most important factors in the admission decision process are your academic achievements, such as GPA, course rigor, and extracurricular involvement.

If you have a strong academic profile and demonstrate passion for your chosen field of study, along with meaningful involvement in extracurricular activities, you still have a chance of being admitted as an out-of-state applicant. So, if you feel that Cal Poly aligns with your educational goals and interests, it's definitely worth applying, even if you're an out-of-state student. Good luck with your application process!
