NYU stats to get in

Hi all, I'm really interested in applying to NYU and I want to know what kind of stats I should aim for to increase my chances of getting accepted. Can somebody tell me the average GPA and test scores for admitted students? I would appreciate any other relevant info as well. Thanks!

Hi there! NYU is a competitive university, and it's great that you're aiming high. For your reference, I'll provide the average academic statistics of admitted students, which can serve as a guideline. However, keep in mind that NYU looks at your application holistically, taking into account your extracurriculars, essays, and other factors in addition to these numbers.

Here are the general stats for admitted NYU students:

- Average GPA: The average GPA of admitted students is 3.7 (unweighted).

- Test Scores (optional but recommended for international students): For the classes admitted when NYU still considered SAT/ACT scores, applicants generally had scores in these ranges:

- SAT: Middle 50% range of 1470-1570

- ACT: Middle 50% range of 33-35

Keep in mind that these are just averages and ranges, so students with lower or higher stats may still be accepted or rejected! It's important to focus on other parts of your application and show why you are a good fit for NYU through your essays, extracurriculars, and recommendation letters.

If you're aiming for a specific school within NYU, such as Stern or Tisch, you can look up their individual average academic profiles to give you a better idea of what to aim for. Generally, more specialized or competitive schools within NYU may have slightly higher average GPAs and test scores.

Remember, your application is more than just numbers. Use your essays and extracurricular involvement to showcase your personality, passion, and growth. It's essential to demonstrate what makes you unique and how you would contribute to NYU's community.

Best of luck with your application--you got this!
