Best and worst colleges by state?

This might be a tough one, but does anyone have a list or source where I can find the best and worst colleges by state? I'd love to compare options in my home state and neighboring states.

Answering the question of "best" and "worst" colleges by state can be a bit subjective, as different people have various criteria for what makes a college stand out or fall behind. A helpful way to approach this topic is by referring to university rankings, such as the U.S. News & World Report rankings, Forbes, or CollegeVine (keeping in mind that rankings have limitations and should not be the sole factor in deciding on a school).

For a state-by-state comparison, you can use the U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" rankings and filter your search by state. Keep in mind that these rankings are often primarily based on factors like graduation rates, endowments, and selectivity. It's important to consider other individual factors like campus culture, available majors and programs, class size, location, financial aid, and how well the college fits your needs and aspirations.

As far as finding the "worst" colleges by state, it's important not to label schools based just on rankings. Rather, consider what factors are most important to you and determine if the colleges you are looking at meet your criteria. You might want to steer clear of schools with low graduation rates, poor job placement outcomes, or poor financial aid packages, but make sure to research beyond rankings to get a comprehensive understanding of a college's offerings before making a judgment.

I would suggest focusing your research on finding the right fit for you and your academic interests while also taking into consideration costs and financial aid opportunities. You could also reach out to current students or alumni and visit the campuses of the schools you're interested in to get a better sense of whether they would be a good fit for you. Remember that the best college is the one that aligns with your academic goals, ambitions, and personal preferences.
