Colleges with competitive swim teams?

I'm an aspiring swimmer and want to continue my swimming passion in college. Could someone help me find colleges with solid swim teams? Preferably schools that aren't D1 but would still have a good sports culture. Thanks!

Sure, happy to help! It's great that you want to continue your swimming passion in college. While Division I (D1) schools are known for their competitive sports culture, there are plenty of Division II (D2) and Division III (D3) schools that have strong swim teams and a vibrant sports culture.

Division II schools tend to have competitive sports but are a bit more balanced in terms of prioritizing academics. Some D2 colleges with strong swim programs include:

1. Drury University

2. Queens University of Charlotte

3. University of Tampa

4. Nova Southeastern University

5. Lindenwood University

Division III schools emphasize the student-athlete experience, offering a well-rounded college experience where sports are still important, albeit not at the D1 level. Some notable D3 colleges with good swim teams include:

1. Emory University

2. Kenyon College

3. Denison University

4. MIT

5. Williams College

Keep in mind that the talent level between D2 and D3 can sometimes be quite similar, even though D3 schools don't offer athletic scholarships. It's essential to research each school's team, coach, facilities, and overall swimming culture to determine which colleges might be the best fit for you. As you narrow down your list, consider scheduling visits to these universities and reaching out to the coaches to express your interest and gather more information.

Good luck on your college search and your swimming journey!
