Unsending SAT scores to colleges: can it be done?

Hey everyone, I recently got my SAT scores back and let's just say I'm not super thrilled with the results. Is it possible to unsend scores after they've been sent to colleges or am I pretty much stuck with what I've got? Any insights would be appreciated!

Hey there! I understand that you may not be satisfied with your SAT scores and you're concerned about the colleges receiving them.

Unfortunately, once the College Board has sent your SAT scores to the colleges you selected, you cannot retract or "unsend" them. However, if you choose to retake the SAT and achieve a higher score, you can send these new scores to the colleges as well. Many colleges practice "superscoring," which means they'll consider the highest scores from each section across multiple test administrations. This could potentially benefit you if you improve your scores on a retake.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a growing number of colleges are now test-optional, meaning you don't need to submit your SAT (or ACT) scores at all. For these test-optional institutions, your application will be reviewed based on other aspects, such as GPA, extracurricular activities, and essays. If the colleges you are applying to offer test-optional admissions policies, and you feel your SAT scores don't accurately represent your abilities, you may consider withholding your scores altogether.

But for now, there's no way to officially "unsend" scores that have already been sent. Take a deep breath and try not to worry too much, as one test score isn't the sole determinant of your college admissions outcome. Good luck in the application process!
