Which schools have strong medical programs?

Hi everyone! I'm starting to look into college options, and I'd like to attend a school with a strong medical program. Besides the Ivy Leagues, can you guys suggest some other schools that are known for their medical programs? I'm open to both large universities and smaller liberal arts colleges. Thanks a lot!

Hi there! It's great that you're looking to pursue a medical program. Besides the Ivy Leagues, there are many other colleges and universities with strong medical programs and pre-med tracks. Here's a list of some schools you may want to consider:

1. Johns Hopkins University: Hopkins is renowned for both its undergraduate pre-med tracks and its top-ranked medical school.

2. Duke University: Offers a fantastic pre-med program, strong research opportunities, and a highly respected medical school.

3. University of Chicago: Known for its rigorous curriculum, superb faculty, and a strong emphasis on research, which will prepare you well for medical school.

4. Washington University in St. Louis: With a great pre-med track and its renowned School of Medicine, WashU is an excellent choice for aspiring med students.

5. Rice University: Offers an intimate pre-med experience in a small-campus environment with collaborative research opportunities.

6. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): Has a strong pre-med program and a top-ranked medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine.

7. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor: Home to a prominent medical school and a large research-oriented institution, U-M provides a robust pre-med foundation.

8. Emory University: Offers a pre-med program with access to research opportunities at the Emory University School of Medicine and a renowned teaching hospital.

9. Boston University: Has a strong pre-med track and an excellent School of Medicine known for its research and high ranking.

For smaller liberal arts colleges with strong pre-med programs and supportive environments, consider:

1. Amherst College: Known for its support of pre-med students, including strong advising and well-regarded science programs.

2. Williams College: Offers a solid pre-med program with research opportunities and a low student-to-faculty ratio.

3. Swarthmore College: Features distinguished faculty and offers strong pre-med advising.

Keep in mind that it's not just about attending a university with a prestigious medical school; it's important to look for schools with robust undergraduate pre-med programs that prepare you well for medical school. Prioritize factors like advising, research opportunities, and a supportive pre-med community. Good luck!
