Is Georgetown an Ivy League?

Hello everyone! I've been researching colleges and have a question. Is Georgetown University part of the Ivy League? I keep hearing it mentioned with top-tier schools, but I'm not sure if this label applies to it. Thanks in advance!

Georgetown University is not part of the Ivy League. The Ivy League is a specific group of eight prestigious universities in the United States, which include Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, and Yale. These schools belong to the Ivy League mainly due to their shared history and similarities in academic excellence, athletic competition, and elite reputations.

While Georgetown is not an Ivy League school, it is definitely still considered a top-tier institution with a strong reputation for its excellent academic programs, particularly in fields like international relations, business, and government. Georgetown is also known for its cluster of schools, including the Walsh School of Foreign Service, McDonough School of Business, and Georgetown College, among others. Overall, Georgetown shares many qualities with the Ivy League universities, but it is not officially part of the group.
