New name for GED?

I heard that the GED (General Educational Development) test has a new name or something. What's the new name and what, if anything, is different about it? Just trying to make sure I'm up-to-date with this information.

The GED test, known as the General Educational Development test, is now officially called the GED® High School Equivalency Test. While the name has changed, the purpose and structure of the test remain the same. The test still serves as a way for individuals who have not completed a traditional high school curriculum to demonstrate their knowledge and skills equivalent to a high school graduate.

The GED® High School Equivalency Test consists of four subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. The test is designed to assess your ability to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively—skills that are expected of a high school graduate.

In recent years, there have been updates to the test content and format to align with current educational standards and better reflect the skills needed in today's job market and post-secondary education. However, the main goal remains the same: to provide a pathway to a high school-equivalent credential for those who have not completed traditional high school.

So, while the official name has changed, the purpose and general concept of the GED are still the same. If you're considering taking the test, it's essential to research the specific requirements and preparation resources available in your state or jurisdiction, as there may be some variations.
