What kind of PSAT score is needed for MIT?

Hey everyone! I'm a high school junior and I've been dreaming of going to MIT for a long time. I know the PSAT isn't as important as the SAT or ACT, but does anyone know what kind of PSAT score might show that I'm on track to be competitive for MIT admissions?

While the PSAT isn't a deciding factor in MIT admissions, it can serve as a helpful indicator of whether you're on the right path toward being competitive. To give you an idea, the middle 50% range for admitted MIT students' SAT scores is typically around 1520-1580.

Given the SAT range I mentioned earlier, you should aim for a PSAT score of at least 1450 to demonstrate that you're on track for competitive SAT scores. Remember that PSAT scores max out at 1520, and the conversion between PSAT and SAT scores is not exactly 1-to-1. For example, an 1150 on the PSAT is roughly equivalent to an 1180 on the SAT.

In addition to standardized test scores, make sure you're focusing on other critical aspects of your application, such as your academic performance (GPA and course rigor), extracurricular activities, and essays. MIT values a well-rounded application that demonstrates your passion, dedication, and talents in various areas.

Keep working hard, and good luck on your journey toward applying to MIT!
