Submitting AP test scores to colleges—the right way?

Hi guys, quick question. How do we submit our AP test scores to colleges when applying? Is it automatic or do we need to send an official score report through College Board? I want to make sure I'm doing it right so that my scores are considered during the admissions process.

Hi there! When it comes to submitting your AP test scores to colleges, you have a couple of options. It's worth noting that AP scores are generally not as crucial in the admissions process as your SAT or ACT scores, so submitting them is often optional, but they can still showcase your academic strengths and subject knowledge.

First, many colleges allow you to self-report your AP scores in the application itself (usually in the "Testing" section). This lets you report the scores without having to send an official score report from the College Board.

However, if a college requires or you choose to send your official AP score report, you can do so through the College Board's website. You'll need to sign in to your account, select the college you want to send your scores to, and pay the associated fee (unless you qualify for a fee waiver). Keep in mind that it may take a few weeks for the college to receive your score report, so you should plan accordingly.

Once you've enrolled in a college, they may ask you to send an official AP score report so they can award you credit or advanced placement in courses. In this case, you will need to go through the same process mentioned above to send your official scores.

To sum up, you can either self-report your AP scores in your application (if allowed) or send an official score report through the College Board's website, based on the college's requirements or your preference. Just be sure to double-check each college's specific policies and requirements regarding AP scores in their application process. Good luck!
