Converting 1190 SAT score to ACT

Hey everyone! I recently got a 1190 on my SAT, and I'm considering taking the ACT as well. Can someone help me understand how my SAT score might translate to an ACT score? I want to see if it would be worth giving the ACT a shot.

Hello! Converting your SAT score to an ACT score can be helpful in determining whether it's worth taking the ACT. According to official concordance tables, an SAT score of 1190 roughly translates to an ACT composite score of 24. Keep in mind that these conversions are only an estimate, and your performance on the ACT may differ based on the unique content and structure of the test.

It's important to consider your strengths and weaknesses when deciding between the two exams. The ACT includes a science section and has a different scoring system, format, and pacing compared to the SAT. It might be beneficial to take a practice ACT test under timed conditions to get a feel for the differences between the exams and to gauge your potential performance on the actual ACT.

If you perform better on the ACT than the SAT (after converting your scores), it might be worth switching to the ACT or preparing for both exams, depending on your goals and the requirements of the colleges you're interested in. Good luck!
