Hey everyone, I'm taking the ACT soon and I just wanted to double-check—how many points is the test out of? I know it's different from the SAT, so I want to make sure I'm aiming for the right score.
Hey there! The ACT is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, with 36 being the highest possible score. Each of the four main sections (English, Math, Reading, and Science) is scored individually on the same 1-36 scale, and then the average of these section scores is taken to create your overall composite score, which is also out of 36.
The composite score is generally the most important number, as it represents your performance on the entire exam. Keep in mind that the Writing section is optional and separately scored on a scale of 2-12. Good luck with your test preparation!
