Should I apply to college using the Common App or the Coalition App?

Hey everyone! I'm a junior and I've been researching the different application platforms for college. I'm not sure whether I should use the Common App or the Coalition App to apply. What are the pros and cons of each platform, and how did you all decide which one to use? Thanks for your help!

Hey there! I remember going through the college application process with my child not too long ago. Both the Common App and Coalition App have their pros and cons, so it's really about what suits your needs best. The Common App is more widely accepted, as it is used by over 900 colleges and universities. The Coalition App is used by around 150 schools. So, depending on the schools you're interested in, one platform might be more convenient than the other. The Common App also has a slightly more user-friendly interface, in my opinion.

The Coalition App, on the other hand, offers a unique feature called the 'Locker,' which allows you to store and organize materials like essays, projects, and other achievements throughout your high school years. This can be helpful for keeping track of everything in one place.

Ultimately, my child chose to use the Common App because most of the schools they were applying to accepted it, and they found the interface easier to navigate. However, you should research the specific requirements for the schools on your list and weigh the features of each platform to make the best decision for you. Good luck with your applications!
