ACT Scoring - What's the Maximum?

Hey guys! I've been prepping for the ACT and was wondering what the max score is. How many points is the ACT out of? It'd be great to know so I can set some goals for myself.

Hi there! The ACT is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, with 36 being the highest possible score. The test has four sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science, each scored on the same 1-36 scale. Your composite score, which is the overall score representing your performance on the test, is calculated by taking the average of all four section scores (rounded to the nearest whole number).

Now that you know the scoring scale, it's important to set realistic and specific goals depending on the colleges you're interested in. Research the average ACT scores of admitted students at your top-choice schools and consider setting a target score in the middle to upper range of those averages. Remember to also focus on other aspects of your application like course rigor, GPA, and extracurricular activities, as colleges review all of these components in a holistic manner.

Good luck with your ACT preparation!
