Waitlist Results Timeframe

Got waitlisted at a couple of my top choices and I'm getting a bit anxious. When do colleges usually start releasing waitlist results? Is it anytime after the regular decision release date?

Getting waitlisted can definitely be nerve-wracking, so it's understandable that you're feeling anxious. The waitlist process often varies depending on the college, but there's a general timeline that most colleges follow.

Most colleges start to release waitlist results after the decision deadline for accepted students has passed. Many colleges have a May 1st deadline for students to accept or decline offers of admission, so after that date, colleges typically start to fill any open spots with students from their waitlist as needed.

The waitlist process can continue throughout the entire summer, but most of the movement usually occurs in May and June. It's important to be patient while awaiting waitlist results, as you might not receive an update for weeks or even months. In the meantime, it's a good idea to confirm your enrollment at another college to secure a spot in case you are not taken off the waitlist at your top choices.

You should also update the colleges where you're waitlisted with any significant changes in your academic or extracurricular accomplishments since your initial application, as that could potentially improve your chances of being accepted off the waitlist. Be sure to follow any specific instructions or guidelines provided by the colleges regarding waitlist updates and communication.

Remember that getting off the waitlist can be difficult, as it depends on how many accepted students decide to enroll and how many spots the college has available. Stay positive, but also be prepared to attend another college if you don't end up getting off the waitlist at your top choices. Good luck!
