Can I apply to college as undecided?

Hey there! I'm a junior in high school, and I'm not sure what I want to major in yet. Can I apply to college as undecided, or is it better to choose a major before applying? I'm worried that not having a clear direction might hurt my chances of admission. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there! It's totally normal to feel uncertain about what you want to major in at this stage. Many students apply to college as undecided, and it's considered completely acceptable. In fact, some colleges even encourage students to explore different subjects before declaring a major. My own child was in a similar situation and applied as an undecided student. They had the opportunity to take courses in various subjects during their first year, which helped them find the right major. That being said, if you have a general idea of your interests, you can mention this in your application essay or when communicating with the admissions office. This will show that you're open to exploring different fields and have a genuine interest in learning. Ultimately, the most important thing is to present yourself as a well-rounded and dedicated student, regardless of whether you have a specific major in mind. Best of luck with your college application process!
