Economics at UC Davis?

I'm interested in studying Economics and UC Davis is one of my top choices. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with the Econ program at Davis and maybe even about the class sizes, professors, and internship opportunities?

I've heard from many students who attended UC Davis that the Economics program is well-regarded and offers a solid foundation for students interested in the field. While I haven't experienced it firsthand, I can share some information based on what others have mentioned.

Class Sizes: In the beginning, you may find larger class sizes for introductory courses, with a few hundred students. However, as you progress through the program and start taking upper-division courses, class sizes tend to shrink significantly, sometimes as low as 20-30 students. This allows for more interaction with professors and classmates.

Professors: Many students have praised the quality of the professors in the Econ department at UC Davis. They are described as knowledgeable, engaging, and helpful. Of course, this might vary from one professor to another, so it's important to do your research and ask other students for recommendations when you're planning your class schedule.

Internship Opportunities: UC Davis is located near the Sacramento metropolitan area, providing several internship opportunities for Economics students in both the private and public sectors. Moreover, the campus' Internship and Career Center (ICC) can assist you in finding internships by offering workshops, job fairs, and networking events. Some students have secured internships with government agencies, consulting firms, banks, and non-profits.

Additionally, UC Davis has a strong alumni network that you can tap into for connections and networking opportunities. This can be helpful when searching for internships and jobs in the economics field. Overall, the Economics program at UC Davis seems well-suited for students interested in the subject, and offers a good mix of academic rigor, quality professors, and real-world experiences.
