Hey guys, I'm super interested in pursuing theatre in college and I've been looking into UNLV's theatre department. Does anyone have any experiences or insights about their program? Are the professors good and supportive? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Hey! I'm glad to hear that you're interested in pursuing theatre and looking into UNLV's department. While I may not have any personal experiences to share, I can provide some helpful information about their program.

UNLV's Department of Theatre offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in three concentrations: Stage and Screen Acting, Design/Technology, and Theatre Studies. This variety gives you the opportunity to focus on your preferred area within theatre.

From what I've gathered, students generally have positive experiences with the program. They appreciate the knowledgeable and dedicated faculty that provide a solid foundation for a career in theatre. Professors are known to be supportive, and there's a strong sense of camaraderie among theatre students.

One of the highlights of UNLV's theatre program is the Nevada Conservatory Theatre (NCT), which is the professional theatre training program on campus. The NCT usually produces around six shows per year, giving students the chance to gain invaluable hands-on experience and work closely with industry professionals. This could be an excellent opportunity for you to hone your craft and build your resume.

In addition to the main productions, there are many opportunities to get involved in smaller projects, workshops, and clubs, allowing you to further develop your skills, network, and make connections within the theatre community. Students also have access to great facilities, including multiple performance spaces, design labs, and state-of-the-art light and sound equipment.

Although I can't speak from experience, it seems that UNLV's theatre department offers a well-rounded and supportive environment for students to grow as artists. I recommend reaching out to current students or recent alumni to gain a more in-depth perspective. You can also attend on-campus events, performances, or open houses to get a feel for the university and its theatre program.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!
