What are some good music schools in New York?

So, I'm a junior and I've been really passionate about music my entire life. I'm looking to attend a college in New York to study music. Does anyone have suggestions for well-regarded music schools or programs in the state? Super grateful for any help y'all can provide!

There are several well-regarded music schools and programs in New York that offer a range of opportunities for students passionate about music. Here are a few options you might want to consider:

1. Juilliard School: Known for its rigorous curriculum and impressive alumni, Juilliard is one of the top music schools not only in New York but across the globe. They offer programs in classical music performance, composition, and jazz studies.

2. Manhattan School of Music: Manhattan School of Music is a conservatory that offers programs in classical music, jazz, and musical theatre. It provides a comprehensive music education and allows for collaboration with other New York City-based institutions.

3. Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester): This highly respected music school offers a wide range of programs, including in classical performance, music education, composition, and jazz studies. Eastman is known for its ensembles, world-class faculty, and multitude of performance opportunities.

4. New York University (Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development): NYU's Music program offers degrees spanning areas like performance, composition, music business, music technology, and music education. It's a great option if you're looking for a more comprehensive university experience while still focusing on music.

5. Ithaca College School of Music: Located outside of NYC, Ithaca College's School of Music offers a variety of music-related majors, such as performance, composition, music education, and audio production. Ithaca is known for its hands-on learning experiences and exceptional faculty.

6. The New School (Mannes School of Music): Mannes School of Music is part of The New School and offers programs in classical music, jazz, and contemporary music. Mannes has a strong focus on innovation and collaboration, to provide students with a well-rounded music education.

Keep in mind that each of these schools has its unique strengths, so it's a good idea to visit their websites, attend open houses or virtual events, and talk to current students or alumni to get a better understanding of which option might be the best fit for you. Good luck with your college search!
