The University of Santa Clara is a Division I school and a member of the West Coast Conference (WCC). They offer a variety of sports for both men and women. For men, sports include baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, cross country, and track & field, while women have opportunities in basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, softball, volleyball, cross country, and track & field. The Broncos, as they are nicknamed, have a strong athletic presence on campus, with their teams putting up competitive performance both within the conference and at the national level.

Although Santa Clara isn't as well-known for their athletics as some larger universities, they have a thriving sports culture. Some of their most successful teams are men's soccer and women's soccer, both of which have achieved noteworthy success in recent years. The men's soccer team has consistently made appearances in the NCAA tournament and even captured the national championship in 1989. The women's soccer team has also been highly successful, winning the national championship in 2001 and 2021.

As for sports facilities, the University of Santa Clara has several high-quality facilities to support their athletic programs. The Leavey Center is the main facility that hosts basketball and volleyball games. It offers a large court, seating for nearly 5,000 fans, and impressive acoustics. Stevens Stadium is used for soccer games and includes a natural grass field and seating capacity for 7,000 fans. Other notable facilities include the Stephen Schott Stadium for baseball, the Santa Clara Softball Stadium, and the Degheri Tennis Center.

In addition to the varsity sports, Santa Clara has a range of club and intramural sports, providing opportunities for students to participate in a more casual, yet still competitive atmosphere. Club sports include options like rugby, ice hockey, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, and many others, while intramural sports offer a wider range of options for students looking to stay active and involved in friendly competition.

Overall, the athletic scene at the University of Santa Clara is vibrant and contributes positively to the campus experience. Though not as large or renowned as some other schools, the Broncos still have a considerable impact within their conference and beyond. The combination of competitive varsity sports, club sports, and intramural options ensures that there's something for everyone on the sports front at Santa Clara.
