Thoughts on UIUC's Accounting Program?

I'm interested in studying accounting and I've heard that UIUC has a pretty good program. Does anyone know how their accounting program is ranked and what kind of job placements graduates usually get? Are there any unique aspects of their accounting program that separates it from others?

UIUC (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) is indeed known for its strong accounting program. The Department of Accountancy at UIUC is consistently ranked as one of the top programs in the nation, usually within the top 3. Their reputation in the accounting field is well-respected and recognized by professionals and recruiters in the industry.

Graduates from UIUC's accounting program have a high rate of job placement, often with the Big Four accounting firms (PwC, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG) as well as other reputable corporations. The Gies College of Business, under which the accounting program falls, boast a strong network of alumni and a dedicated career services center to assist students in their job search. Most students secure internships during their undergraduate years, which often leads to full-time job offers upon graduation.

One unique aspect of UIUC's program is the Integrated Master of Accounting Science (iMAS) program. This is a 5-year program that allows students to earn both their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in accounting simultaneously. This not only streamlines their education but also sets them up to meet the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam requirements, as most states require 150 credit hours. An additional benefit of the iMAS program is that students are eligible for an accelerated CPA review course, which is integrated into the curriculum, preparing them well for the certification exams.

Overall, UIUC's accounting program is known for its strong curriculum, excellent job placements, and the unique iMAS program that sets it apart from other universities. If you're looking for a well-regarded program with a proven track record, UIUC's accounting program is worth your consideration.
