Penn State data science: How does it rank?

Hey, I'm a junior researching colleges for data science programs. Does anyone know how well Penn State's data science program is ranked compared to other schools? Also, how is the overall experience for data science majors there? Thanks!

While I don't have an exact ranking, Penn State's data science program is well-regarded and has a strong reputation. The program prioritizes interdisciplinary learning, by combining computer science, statistics, and domain-specific knowledge to prepare students for a variety of data-focused careers. Penn State is also known for its robust research facilities, which give undergraduate students ample opportunities to participate in data-driven research projects.

As for the overall experience, many data science majors at Penn State have positive feedback on the curriculum, faculty, and hands-on learning opportunities. Students enjoy small class sizes, which help them receive individualized attention from professors in the program. Additionally, the program's flexibility allows students to either explore data science broadly or delve deeper into a particular area of interest.

When considering data science programs, it's essential to also consider factors like location, campus environment, and available resources. Be sure to do some more research to see if Penn State's data science program aligns with your personal goals and preferences, as well as your academic ones, and consider visiting or attending a virtual open house to learn more about the student experience.

If you do find a ranking of data science programs, also remember that different rankings systems account for different criteria, and may give more of less weight to the aspects of the program that are most important to you. So, while rankings can be one helpful data point, don't base your decision off them alone.
