Swarthmore SAT score requirements

Hi there! I'm considering applying to Swarthmore College, but I'm unsure about their SAT score requirements. What is the average SAT score of admitted students? Are there any recommended minimums to be a competitive applicant?

Swarthmore College, like many selective schools, has a broad range of admitted students with varying SAT scores. Generally speaking, a competitive applicant will have SAT scores that meet or exceed the 25th-75th percentile range of admitted students. At Swarthmore, the middle 50% SAT score range for admitted students typically falls between 1480 and 1540. Keep in mind that these are rough estimates and can vary from year to year.

To be considered a strong applicant, I'd recommend aiming to have an SAT score within or above this middle 50% range. Nonetheless, it's important to remember that Swarthmore, along with other colleges, evaluates applicants holistically. This means that they consider factors beyond just your SAT score, such as your grades, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

Since many schools now have test-optional policies, you should also check Swarthmore's current test requirements and policies. If they allow test-optional applications, you may choose not to submit your SAT scores if you believe other aspects of your application are stronger.
