Carnegie Mellon ACT Scores?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out my chances of getting into Carnegie Mellon. Can anyone tell me the average ACT score accepted there? Also, what other factors are important for admission? I really appreciate any help!

Carnegie Mellon University is a competitive institution, and while they do not strictly demand a specific ACT score, they have certain score ranges within which the majority of accepted students fall. For the 2023 entering class, the middle 50% range for ACT scores was around 34-35. This means that 25% of accepted students scored below a 34, and 25% scored above a 35. Keep in mind, as more applications are submitted, these numbers may shift slightly.

While a strong ACT score is certainly important, Carnegie Mellon, like many other selective schools, takes a holistic approach to the admission process. This means they consider multiple factors such as GPA, curriculum rigor, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, essays, and demonstrated interest. Emphasis on showcasing your spike—a highly developed specialization in a particular field—will also help you stand out among other applicants.

It's important that you have a well-rounded application that highlights not just your academic achievements but also your character, interests, and passions. Be sure to put effort into crafting compelling essays that detail your experiences and showcase your unique voice. Strong letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors can provide additional insight into your potential as a student.

Finally, be aware that Carnegie Mellon's different colleges have different acceptance rates and criteria, so it's beneficial to research the specific program you're interested in and tailor your application accordingly. Good luck with your application process!
