Yale's average SAT score for accepted students?

Hey! I'm planning on applying to Yale and I've been wondering about the average SAT score of successful applicants. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks a bunch!

Hi! In recent years, the average SAT score for accepted students at Yale has been around the 1370-1590 range (10th-90th percentile). This range should give you a good idea of the kind of score Yale is looking for, though keep in mind that admissions decisions are based on various factors, not just test scores.

Of course, having a score in this range or higher will strengthen your application, but a slightly lower score doesn't necessarily mean you won't be considered. On the flip side, even a perfect 1600 unfortunately doesn't guarantee admission. At a school as selective as Yale, all aspects of your application need to be strong, including your essays, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. These components together paint a complete picture of you as a candidate.

If you're looking for ways to polish up the rest of your application, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which breaks down how to tackle Yale's school-specific supplemental essay prompts: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-yale-university-essays/. Excellent essays can help compensate for a slightly lower SAT score, or be the factor that pushes an already strong applicant over the edge. Good luck with your application to Yale!
