Accounting degrees in Texas: any recommendations?

I live in Texas and I'm starting to think about colleges. I'm planning on majoring in accounting. Does anyone have any recommendations for good accounting programs at schools in Texas?

I recommend looking into the following schools in Texas that are known for their strong accounting programs:

1. University of Texas at Austin (McCombs School of Business): UT Austin's McCombs School frequently appears in top accounting program rankings. Their undergraduate accounting program is highly regarded, and it offers numerous opportunities for internships, networking, and a strong alumni base.

2. Texas A&M University (Mays Business School): Mays Business School has a solid accounting program, and even offers a Professional Program in Accounting that allows students to earn a bachelor's in accounting and a master's degree in accounting or another business discipline within five years. This could be a good option for you if you're either particularly passionate about accounting or want to explore multiple areas of the world of business.

3. Baylor University (Hankamer School of Business): Baylor's Hankamer School of Business offers a solid accounting program. They provide a comprehensive curriculum and opportunities to gain practical experience through internships with regional and national accounting firms.

4. Southern Methodist University (Cox School of Business): SMU's Cox School is well-regarded for its accounting program. The school offers a variety of resources and opportunities, including internships and networking with Dallas-based accounting firms.

5. Texas Tech University (Rawls College of Business): Texas Tech's Rawls College has a strong accounting program that provides students with a deep understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations. They also offer the Integrated Master of Science in Accounting (IMSA) program, which is worth knowing about if you think you'll eventually want to pursue a more advanced degree in accounting.

When considering an accounting program, you should look into factors such as internship opportunities, alumni network, job placement rates, and program reputation. Additionally, visiting each school's campus can give you a better idea of the overall learning environment and community feel. Make sure to also consider the financial aid each school offers, and use their net price calculators to get an estimate of the cost - an early application of your budding accounting skills!

Good luck in your search!
