Colleges with Late Application Deadlines

Hi, I'm a junior, and I'm starting to think about college applications next year. I want to have some backup options with later deadlines, just in case. Can anyone help me find a list of schools with late application deadlines? Thanks!

Sure, I'm happy to help you identify some schools with late application deadlines! While many colleges do have traditional deadlines in December or January, there are still quite a few that allow students to submit applications later. Do keep in mind that exact deadlines and admissions policies can vary from year to year, so it's a good idea to double-check the following information on each school's website.

That being said, here are some schools that usually have deadlines on the later side, from February to July:

1. University of Idaho - July 1

2. St. John's College (MD and NM) - March 15

3. Michigan State University - February 1

4. University of Michigan - February 1

5. University of Pittsburgh - February 1 (for some programs)

6. Clark University (MA) - Rolling admission

7. Arizona State University - Rolling admission

8. Washington State University - Rolling admission

9. University of Utah - Rolling admission

10. Penn State University - Rolling admission with a priority deadline of November 30

Schools with rolling admissions will continue to review applications until they've reached their capacity for the incoming class. However, to maximize your chances of admission, you ideally want to submit your application as early as possible, when there are more spots available in the class, and also to ensure you have full access to resources like financial aid and housing.

Also, consider looking into colleges with "space available" if you're really in a bind. These colleges may not have filled their admission quotas, and hence, keep their application open even beyond their listed deadlines. You can usually find updates about this on individual college websites or by reaching out to the admissions office.

Remember that applying before the deadline is always a better strategy than relying on late applications or space available options. So, while having backup options is never a bad idea, do your best to craft a strong application that's ready for submission by the official deadline.

Good luck with your applications!
