Top PPE programs in the US?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior looking into studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) in college. Could you recommend some colleges that have strong PPE programs in the US? I'm open to any suggestions and would love to hear about your experiences. Thanks so much!

Hi there! It's great to see that you're interested in studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). I'd be happy to suggest some colleges with strong PPE programs in the US. Keep in mind that PPE is a relatively uncommon major in the US compared to the UK, so it can also be helpful to look for programs n one of these fields that encourage interdisciplinary work.

1. University of Pennsylvania: UPenn's PPE major is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the United States. The program is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences and offers four different concentrations: Choice and Behavior, Globalization, Public Policy and Governance, and Philosophy and Moral Science.

2. Duke University: Duke offers a PPE program as a major and minor. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary study, by allowing students to take courses across several departments. The faculty members come from philosophy, political science, and economics, and have diverse research interests.

3. Pomona College: Pomona offers a PPE program as both a major and minor, with coursework spanning across three departments. Students can specialize in different areas within the PPE fields through various electives.

4. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor: Michigan offers a PPE program in their College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Students can pursue diverse interests within the PPE field, by tailoring their coursework to meet their specific goals.

5. Yale University: Yale has an Ethics, Politics, and Economics (EPE) major, which has a similar focus to PPE. This interdisciplinary major offers students a chance to engage with a variety of courses and topics to form their own customized program.

6. Vanderbilt University: Vanderbilt's Public Policy program is not quite the same thing as PPE, but there is overlap, and plenty of opportunities for interdisciplinary study. Students can choose from a variety of courses across the three fields of philosophy, politics, and economics, and the curriculum as a whole emphasizes the value of combining theoretical perspectives with empirical research

These are just a few of the noteworthy PPE programs found at colleges across the United States. Remember that you can also consider majoring or minoring in any of the individual PPE fields (such as philosophy, political science, or economics), or look into other interdisciplinary programs that combine these fields in different ways. Good luck in your search!
