How long is each ACT section?

Hey, I'm taking the ACT soon and want to do some timed practice. Could someone help me out and let me know how long each section of the ACT is supposed to take? Thank you!

Absolutely! The ACT is divided into four sections (plus an optional Writing section). Here's the breakdown of each section's timing:

1. English: 45 minutes

- This section has 75 questions, which focus on grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills.

2. Math: 60 minutes

- Consisting of 60 questions, this section tests your knowledge in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

3. Reading: 35 minutes

- The Reading section has 40 questions that assess your comprehension skills based on four passages from different subject areas (literature, social studies, humanities, and natural sciences).

4. Science: 35 minutes

- This section has 40 questions and focuses on your ability to analyze and interpret scientific data from charts, tables, and passages related to biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth science.

(Optional) 5. Writing: 40 minutes

- For the optional Writing section, you'll have 40 minutes to write an essay in response to a given prompt.
