UC Berkeley SAT Average and Competitive Scores

Hi everyone! I have UC Berkeley on my college list, and I'm wondering what their average SAT scores are for admitted students. Also, what would you say is a competitive SAT score to aim for to have a solid shot at getting in? Any advice is appreciated!

Hello! UC Berkeley is a great choice, and it's good that you're curious about the SAT scores for admitted students.

Since the University of California system has gone test-blind, SAT scores are no longer considered in the admissions process. This means that your SAT score will not have any impact on your chances of getting into UC Berkeley or other UC schools. Instead, the admissions team will evaluate your application based on other factors like your high school coursework, GPA, extracurricular activities, leadership experience, essays, and demonstrated interest.

To strengthen your application, focus on maintaining a high GPA in rigorous classes, writing compelling essays, and developing strong extracurricular activities and leadership skills. These components will be more critical to your admission chances, as the UC system no longer considers standardized test scores.

If you're looking for tips on how to strengthen your application in these other areas, I'd suggest checking out this blog post from CollegeVine, which breaks down how to tackle the UC systems's Personal Insight Questions: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-university-of-california-essays/. Without test scores, the more subjective elements of your application, like the intangible talents reflected in the essays, become even more important.

Good luck with your application, and I hope this information was helpful!
