Case Western Chemistry Major?

Hey guys, I've been thinking about majoring in chemistry and looking at Case Western Reserve University. Could anyone tell me about their chemistry program and opportunities there?

Absolutely! Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is known for its strong science and engineering programs, and its chemistry department is no exception. The University offers both a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in chemistry, depending on your intended career path and interest in research. The main difference between the two degrees is that the BS has a stronger emphasis on research and lab work, while the BA offers more flexibility and is better suited if you plan to double major or pursue additional interests outside of chemistry.

In terms of opportunities, CWRU has state-of-the-art research facilities and undergraduates are encouraged to participate in research projects. Many students work side-by-side with faculty on groundbreaking research, even in their freshman year.

Additionally, the chemistry department offers many opportunities for students to develop their skills outside the classroom. There are several chemistry clubs and organizations, such as the American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter, which offers networking and professional development opportunities. Moreover, CWRU organizes an annual Chemistry Research Symposium event, where students can present their research in poster or oral presentation formats.

CWRU also has partnerships with neighboring institutions, including The Cleveland Clinic and The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, that provide unique opportunities for students to engage in internship, research, and collaboration experiences beyond the campus environment.

With its strong chemistry program, excellent research facilities, and various extracurricular opportunities, CWRU can be a great option if you are considering a chemistry major.
