UIC Average GPA?

Hey, I'm applying to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) next year and I'm curious about the average GPA for admitted students. Does anyone know what it is and how much weight UIC gives to GPA vs test scores? Thanks for the help!

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a moderately competitive university. UIC's middle 50% GPA range for admitted students to their is around 3.2 to 3.8 on an unweighted 4.0 scale. The average varies depending on the school within UIC to which you are applying. You can find the middle 50% ranges for the different schools here: https://admissions.uic.edu/undergraduate/requirements-deadlines/first-year-requirements

Keep in mind that these are just averages, so there are students who have been admitted with both higher and lower GPAs.

As for the importance of GPA vs test scores, GPA typically carries more weight in the admissions process because it is considered a better indicator of your academic performance and work ethic over the course of your high school career. However, test scores can still play a role in UIC's admissions decisions.

That being said, UIC has adopted a test-optional policy for applicants, which means that you can choose whether or not to submit SAT or ACT scores. If you opt not to submit test scores, your application will rely more on your GPA, personal essay, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular activities. If you do choose to submit test scores, they will be considered alongside these other factors in the evaluation process.

Ultimately, it's important to strive for a strong GPA while also focusing on other aspects of your application that showcase your achievements and potential. Make sure to have a well-rounded profile to increase your chances of being admitted. Best of luck with your application!
