UO Landscape Architecture Experiences?

I'm a high school junior and I've recently become interested in studying landscape architecture. I saw that the University of Oregon has a landscape architecture program, but I can't find much info on it. Does anyone here have any experiences or thoughts to share about the program?

I'm glad you're interested in landscape architecture! Although I don't have personal experience with the University of Oregon's landscape architecture program, I can share some information and insights based on what I've heard from other students.

The University of Oregon has a well-regarded Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) program, housed within the College of Design's School of Architecture & Environment. The program is known for its strong emphasis on sustainability, ecological design, and innovative approaches to transforming urban and natural landscapes.

The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive education in landscape architecture. Students get a mix of lectures, studio-based design courses, and hands-on experiences through fieldwork and internships. There's also the option to participate in study abroad programs, which can enrich your understanding of global landscape architecture practices. One benefit of attending a large university like Oregon is the opportunity to collaborate with other disciplines, giving landscape architecture students access to resources and perspectives from across the campus.

Many students appreciate the collaborative and supportive atmosphere within the program. Faculty are generally described as being approachable and invested in their students' success. Additionally, the program's location in Eugene provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation and firsthand experience with the Pacific Northwest's unique landscapes.

One potential downside is that the BLA program can be demanding, and you might find yourself working long hours on studio projects. However, this dedication pays off when it comes to preparing for a successful career in landscape architecture. The program has strong connections with alumni and professional networks, which can be valuable when seeking internships and job opportunities post-graduation.

To get a clearer sense of the program, I recommend contacting the university or reaching out to current students or alumni through social media. Faculty and staff can provide more detailed information, and current students can give you insight into their day-to-day experiences. Good luck in your search, and I hope this information helps!
