Experiences with UNCC Theatre program?

Hi everyone, I'm a junior thinking about pursuing a major in Theatre at UNCC. If you're a current student or know someone who is, can you share your experience with the program? From the quality of productions to faculty and resources, I'd love to get a better idea of what the program is like.

I'm not a current student at UNCC, but I do have some knowledge about the theatre program there. UNCC's Department of Theatre aims to provide students with skills and experiences needed to succeed in various performance, technical, and managerial aspects of the theatre industry.

The quality of productions at UNCC is generally praised, with an emphasis on a variety of genres, from contemporary plays to the classics and even musicals. This ensures students gain exposure to different types of theatre, which can be valuable when entering the professional field.

Faculty members in the theatre program, many of whom have strong professional backgrounds and hold MFA degrees, tend to be passionate about teaching and dedicated to helping students grow. They offer courses in acting, directing, design, technical production, and theatre history, among others.

UNCC Theatre also provides resources for students interested in pursuing a career in theatre. The Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts houses the Anne R. Belk Theater and the smaller, more intimate Black Box Theater. These spaces provide students ample opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience in performance and production aspects.

The theatre program offers opportunities for internships and the chance to connect with theatre organizations in the Charlotte area. Students can also participate in the Department of Theatre's season, which typically produces 4-5 mainstage shows each academic year. These productions are open to all students, regardless of major.
