Hi guys! I'm interested in applying to Harvard, but I'm not sure about their ACT requirements. Do they require the ACT for admissions? I know some schools are going test-optional these days, but I wasn't sure if Harvard was one of them. Any info would be helpful!
Hi there! As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, Harvard University is no longer test-optional and does require applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score as part of their application. While some universities are moving towards test-optional policies, Harvard has decided to require test scores once again.
A strong ACT score can boost your chances of admission, as Harvard is highly selective. However, keep in mind that Harvard also evaluates your application holistically. This means that in addition to strong test scores, you should also focus on your grades, coursework rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.
While there is no specific "required" ACT score, having a high score makes you more competitive. To give you an idea, a 34 or higher typically places you in the top 25% of admitted students at Harvard. Nevertheless, there are applicants admitted with lower scores, especially if other aspects of their application are strong.
Best of luck with your application!
