Swarthmore application process details

Hi everyone! I'm planning on applying to Swarthmore College and I'd like to know more about their application process. What kind of materials do I need to submit and are there any important deadlines to keep in mind?

Hi there! Swarthmore College uses the Common Application for its admissions process. Below is an outline of the key materials you'll need to submit, along with some important deadlines to be aware of.

1. Application: Complete and submit the Common Application by the relevant deadline (see below).

2. Swarthmore-specific Questions and Writing Supplement: Within the Common Application, you'll find Swarthmore's specific questions and a writing supplement. You'll need to answer these to provide additional information about yourself and your interest in the college.

3. High School Transcript: You'll need to request your official high school transcript, which should include your grade point average, class rank (if available), and courses you've taken throughout high school. Your high school counselor can help you with this process.

4. Letters of Recommendation: Swarthmore requires two letters of recommendation from teachers, preferably those who have taught you in core academic subjects during your junior or senior year. Additionally, a counselor recommendation is required.

5. Standardized Test Scores: Swarthmore has adopted a test-optional policy for the Class of 2026 applicants. You can choose whether or not to submit your SAT or ACT scores with your application. If you decide to submit your scores, you can self-report them on your application or have the official scores sent by the testing agency.

6. Application Fee or Fee Waiver: There is a $60 application fee for Swarthmore College. However, if you are eligible for a fee waiver, you can request one through the Common Application.

Here are some important deadlines you should keep in mind:

- Early Decision I: November 15

- Early Decision II: January 4

- Regular Decision: January 4

- Financial Aid Application (for US Citizens and Permanent Residents): February 1

Good luck with your Swarthmore College application, and feel free to ask any additional questions you may have!
