Duke SAT and ACT Requirements?

What's up, everyone? I'm a junior in HS thinking of applying to Duke University next year. Does anyone know their SAT and/or ACT requirements? Just curious so I can gauge if my scores are competitive enough to apply. Thanks!

Hey there! For the 2024-2025 application cycle, Duke University has resumed considering SAT and ACT scores, so submitting these scores is encouraged. However, there is no strict minimum requirement for SAT or ACT scores at Duke since the admissions process is holistic, meaning they evaluate a variety of factors, not just test scores.

With that said, it's still helpful to know the general score ranges of admitted students to understand how competitive your scores might be. For previously admitted students, the middle 50% SAT scores ranged from 1460-1570 and ACT scores ranged from 33-35. A competitive applicant would ideally fall within or above these ranges. Keep in mind that these are just general guidelines and not guarantees for admission.

Ultimately, your application will be viewed in the context of your overall profile, which includes your GPA, course rigor, extracurriculars, essays, and other elements. So even if your scores are slightly lower than the mentioned ranges, other strengths in your application can still make you a compelling candidate.

Best of luck as you prepare for college applications!
