Info about the CLT exam?

Hello there! I stumbled upon the CLT exam website but I'm not exactly sure what it's all about. Can someone fill me in on what the CLT exam is and if it's something I should consider taking? Thanks!

Hello! The CLT (Classic Learning Test) is a standardized test designed as an alternative to the more widely-known SAT and ACT exams. Developed in response to concerns about the SAT and ACT's focus on Common Core standards, the CLT emphasizes a more classical education approach. It tests a student's abilities in reading, critical thinking, and reasoning in subjects like literature, history, philosophy, and theology.

The CLT exam has three sections: Verbal Reasoning, Grammar/Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning. The test takes two hours to complete, and students can receive their scores just a couple of days after taking it, which is faster than the SAT or ACT.

However, it's important to note that the CLT is not as widely accepted as the SAT or ACT. Many colleges and universities do not accept CLT scores, but there are some that do, particularly religious and liberal arts colleges. Before deciding to take the CLT, it's essential to research the colleges you are interested in applying to and see if they accept CLT scores. If the schools you're considering do accept the CLT, and you feel that your background in classical education might give you an advantage on this exam, then it could be worth taking.

Keep in mind that even if you opt to take the CLT, it's still a good idea to take the SAT or ACT as well, as those exams are more widely recognized and could give you more options when applying to a broader range of colleges. Good luck!
