ACT to SAT Conversion: Is there a reliable method?

Hi all, I've taken both the ACT and SAT but I'm unsure which score is better. Is there a reliable way to translate my ACT score to an SAT score (or vice versa) so I can determine which test I performed better on? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! Yes, there is a reliable way to convert your ACT score to an SAT score, and vice versa, using the official concordance tables provided by the College Board and ACT, Inc. These tables are designed to help you compare your scores on both tests and make an informed decision about which score might be better to submit when applying to colleges.

To use the concordance tables, you can find the most recent version on the official College Board or ACT website. Once you have the tables, you'll want to find your ACT composite score (which ranges from 1 to 36), and compare it to the corresponding SAT total score (which ranges from 400 to 1600) to see how they match up. Similarly, if you want to convert your SAT total score to an ACT composite, look up your SAT score in the table and find the corresponding ACT score.

Keep in mind that this conversion is an estimate and individual colleges and universities might interpret your scores differently based on their own policies and benchmarks. However, the concordance tables are widely accepted and should give you a good idea of which score best represents your abilities.

It's also important to consider other factors, such as the types of schools you're applying to, the programs you're interested in, and any score preferences that they might have. Once you've compared your scores and considered these factors, you should be able to determine which test score is more advantageous for your college applications.

Good luck with your college admissions process!
